The Saturday of June 6 started out as a pretty humid, sunny, but GORGEOUS day. The blue sky and white fluffy clouds reminded me of something out of a Disney movie, the groom and his brother and father were fishing, the bride was doing some last-minute decorating and guests were playing horseshoes until the ceremony was going to begin.
Shelby Hartman and Branson Morrison got married at the White House on the Hill in Round Top, Texas. This venue has a special place in my heart, as I’ve photographed models and wedding details at the Wedding Styled Shoot in 2018. I love photographing here as there’s a pond, a beautiful white house that looks like a chapel that is actually a gorgeous bridal / couple suite and a spacious barn with a fire pit, kitchen and several rooms for guests. The owners are super sweet and some of the most hospitable people.
Before the wedding, Shelby had three first looks. One with each of her grandpas and one with her little brother, Sterlyn. These were sweet and made for some great photos. Sterlyn had an impromptu first look with their mom- Sidonna. I think these may be some of my favorite shots of the night!
Right at six o’clock, Shelby was escorted down the aisle by her little brother Sterlyn. The two had lost their father Darrin a few years ago and though his presence was greatly missed, he was honored with a photo and candles among other late loved ones. I have no doubt that he would have been so proud of Shelby that day. This had me all sorts of teary, but Dorothy, the wedding officiant, kept it lighthearted but also sentimental. She had us all laughing and crying during the ceremony. One of my favorite things as a wedding photographer is seeing the groom react to seeing his bride for the very first time, and Branson didn’t disappoint!
One very cool aspect of this wedding was their unity ceremony, they chose to each pour some paint on a canvas, including Dorothy whose paint represented God in the marriage. The artwork turned out beautiful and abstract and will be a great reminder to them of this commitment they’ve made to one another.
Another unique and special thing about this day was the amount of grandpas in attendance! Had to get a shot with newly weds and all of these men that love her so much.
The night was concluded with delicious cake by Linda, the White House on the Hill owner and hostess, brisket and ribs cooked by the groom’s father and dancing on the patio outside as the sun went down. Couldn’t have been a more gorgeous day!
